About SU2C Canada

What is the goal of Stand Up To Cancer?

Stand Up To Cancer Canada’s (SU2C Canada) goal is to end cancer as the leading cause of death in Canada by building awareness and educating the public about cancer prevention. By raising funds to accelerate research, SU2C Canada hopes to help transform cancer from a disease that takes far too many lives to one that people survive. For more information about the work that Stand Up To Cancer Canada is doing, please visit https://standuptocancer.ca/.

How is Stand Up To Cancer Canada different from Stand Up To Cancer in the U.S.?

Stand Up To Cancer Canada (SU2C Canada) and Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) share a common mission to make cancer patients into cancer survivors through accelerated, collaborative research that improves treatments and outcomes. Both SU2C Canada and SU2C utilize the entertainment industry’s resources to engage the public in supporting and contributing to these initiatives. Stand Up To Cancer Canada is a Canadian Registered Charity (Reg #80550 6730 RR0001). Stand Up To Cancer is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in the United States. Each organization has its own Board of Directors that include senior executives of media networks in their respective countries. Scientific research funded by SU2C Canada is evaluated, recommended, and monitored by the SU2C Canada Scientific Advisory Committee. The US-based SU2C initiative has a separate Scientific Advisory Committee. SU2C Canada and SU2C share a common mission; however, they are separate and distinct programs.

What is a Dream Team?

Dream Teams are flagship projects that bring together multidisciplinary researchers from different institutions to address critical problems in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. For information about SU2C Canada Dream Teams, please visit https://standuptocancer.ca/the-science/dream-teams/.

What is the Innovative Research Grant program?

The Innovative Research Grant (IRG) program supports cutting-edge cancer research that would be deemed too high-risk to receive funding through traditional channels. IRG awards provide significant funding to early-career scientists with novel ideas that have a strong potential to impact patient care. Currently the IRG program only operates in the US under the US-based Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), but awardees collaborate with Stand Up To Cancer Canada (SU2C Canada) and SU2C Dream Teams annually at the SU2C Scientific Summit.
